... I’ll post some more pictures of my other finds tomorrow, but for now I’ll just mention the seven vintage mason jars that were out in the garage for 50¢. Yay! I loved Jenny’s CRAFT: tutorial last week on making mini-terrariums, and suddenly I had jars galore for just such a project. So I invited ...

... Everyone and their crafty cousin is making terrariums lately, and I am thrilled that they've finally made a comeback. And the idea of making one in a mason jar is the perfect mix of recycling, gardening, and making. However, around my house, yet another jar on my table will only get lost between the many jars of buttons, beads, ribbons, and who-knows-what. So I came up with a plan to have my terrariums suspended, '70s macrame planter style, in mid-air where the rent is cheap. Instead of macrame (which I knew how to do back in my Girl Scout days but sadly have forgotten), I ...

... Mason jars… but this week I branched out and made one on a smaller scale, using a baby food jar!
I think it turned out pretty cute.
I wrote it up for CraftStylish: how to recycle baby food jars into a teeny-tiny terrarium and a mix-it-yourself chai tea kit for good measure.
And of course I had to work buttons in there somehow.
Don’t forget to check out Jenny’s original post for all the terrarium-making details!

... and signed all sorts of forms in triplicate to buy a can of spray paint, and spotlighted some of my favorite vintage pearl buttons from the Kitten as a little topper for each one.
I love how they turned out! This is an easy and fun little project that you could add your own favorite elements to, and it would be perfect to do with older kids (ie, not Pearl). If you’d like to make some of your own, I wrote a tutorial here which is based on Jenny Ryan’s excellent Mason Jar Terrarium tutorial for CRAFT:.
