Flowers & Fiberactions
Sue Bleiweiss —
... I put the finishing touches on another quilt this morning: "night blooms" 22"x26" I am finding that with each quilt I finish I learn something new. With this one I learned that there really is a difference in quilt battings and I found one that I will not use again! Speaking of quilts... I along with 12 other fiber artists have formed a new challenge group called Fiberactions. Every two months we each create a new quilt measuring 16"x20" based on a theme chosen by one of us. You can follow our ...

Gifts for me!
Field Trips in Fiber —
... things came from Fannie Narte. She had a blog drawing a few weeks ago where she added an item a day to the box until it was full. I was the lucky winner. Look at all of this stuff! On the bottom is a cute Christmas wallhanging that's embellished with Christmas buttons. On the right is the book, Quilted Photographs. Next is a beautiful Asian panel and an embellished journal (which I will be using for planning my Fiberactions projects. This is a tote bag decorated with her original ...
no good title
Sue Bleiweiss —
... How's that for a nondescript title?! I know I haven't posted in a while but I have been working on some things. I managed to get my Initiatives quilt finished but unfortunately I can't show you that yet - you'll have to wait for the big reveal day on 1/15/09 on the Fiberactions blog to see it. With that project out of the way I've been working on this new fabric collage quilt: ...

Busy Busy Weekend
Field Trips in Fiber —
... My primary goal for the weekend was to get my Initiative challenge quilt quilted and bound. I got it quilted, blocked, trimmed and the binding sewn to the front. All I have left to complete by Friday is the hand sewing, label and hanging sleeve. Binding was a close call. This little piece of fabric is all I have left of the background and binding fabric. It was my lucky day! ...

Weekend dyeing
Field Trips in Fiber —
... This may not look very exciting to you but these fabrics are for my next piece in the Fiberactions challenge. The theme for the new challenge is "communication". The color here has nothing to do with the theme and I still have to do some painting but I am almost ready to get started. You can see that second and third pieces are almost identical. I only needed for values for this and I was afraid that either 2 and 3 or 3 and 4 would be too close in value so I decided to dye 5 steps. I'm glad I did! ...
